Sarah M. LeBlanc has served as the Museum Director since October of 2006, and has 29 years of service with the Department of Public Safety and Corrections.  Ms. LeBlanc works with Warden Burl Cain and staff to ensure the museum provides its visitors an enlightening and educational view into the rich history of Louisiana State Penitentiary.  Since the museum's opening in 1998, visitors have included locals from the area and tourists from across the United States and other countries.  Over the last year 11,342 visitors have scheduled and toured the museum, in addition to visits by the general public.

Under the direction of Ms. LeBlanc, the museum has recently expanded to triple its original size.  The expansion efforts have included a larger gift shop, movie theater and upcoming wildlife exhibit.  The Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame exhibit was also enlarged and updated, showcasing the women and men of Louisiana who have served their community and state in the honorable professions of law enforcement, judiciary and related fields.

In addition to her duties as director, Ms. LeBlanc is also the special events coordinator for Louisiana State Penitentiary
